Role Overview
We are seeking an innovative Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Chennai. This role focuses on optimizing manufacturing processes through meticulous process planning, defining efficient assembly sequences, and accurate shoot costing (initial project/tooling cost estimation). A key aspect will be leveraging surface modelling skills to ensure manufacturability and design integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed manufacturing process plans for components and assemblies, ensuring efficiency and quality.
- Define and optimize assembly sequences to streamline production flow and minimize cycle times.
- Conduct shoot costing analyses for new parts, tooling, and projects, providing accurate cost estimations and identifying cost reduction opportunities.
- Utilize surface modeling techniques in CAD software to analyze part designs for manufacturability, identify potential issues, and propose design for manufacturing (DFM) improvements.
- Collaborate with design, product engineering, and production teams to ensure seamless transition from design to manufacturing.
- Support tooling and fixture design based on process requirements.
- Analyze manufacturing data to drive continuous process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.
- 1 to 7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or process planning.
- Proven experience with surface modeling in a major CAD software (e.g., CATIA, NX, Creo).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and assembly sequence development.
- Demonstrated ability in costing or estimation for manufacturing projects.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Familiarity with various manufacturing technologies (e.g., machining, casting, forming, welding, injection molding).
- Experience with PDM/PLM systems.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
