Position: Vehicle Safety Attribute Manager (TT38ST RM 3945)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Vehicle Safety Attribute Manager to join our growing team in Pune. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in defining, developing, and delivering world-class safety performance across our vehicle programs. This role involves managing the complete lifecycle of vehicle safety attributes, ensuring compliance with global regulations, and striving for excellence in consumer safety ratings. You will be a key interface between various engineering disciplines, translating high-level safety requirements into actionable technical specifications.
Key Responsibilities
As a Vehicle Safety Attribute Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Safety Attribute Definition: Define and manage the overall vehicle safety attribute requirements, encompassing active safety, passive safety, and pedestrian safety for new vehicle platforms.
- Regulatory Compliance & Consumer Ratings: Translate global safety regulations (e.g., UNECE, FMVSS, BIS, etc.) and consumer rating protocols (e.g., Euro NCAP, GNCAP, IIHS, NHTSA) into clear, measurable technical specifications and targets for engineering teams.
- Strategy & Roadmap: Develop and maintain the vehicle safety attribute strategy and roadmap, aligning with product development timelines and organizational goals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead and facilitate communication with cross-functional teams including Design, Body Engineering, Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical/Electronics, ADAS, Testing, and Validation to ensure safety attributes are integrated effectively.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor and report on the status of safety attribute achievement throughout the vehicle development process, identifying risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
- Technical Specification Management: Create, review, and maintain comprehensive technical specifications, DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report), and validation plans related to vehicle safety attributes.
- Problem Solving & Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis for safety-related issues and drive resolution through collaborative problem-solving.
- Benchmarking & Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive benchmarks in vehicle safety to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Supplier Engagement: Collaborate with suppliers on safety-critical components and systems, ensuring their designs meet attribute targets.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 to 8 years of experience in vehicle safety, ADAS development, passive safety systems, or safety attribute management within the automotive industry.
- In-depth knowledge of global vehicle safety regulations (e.g., UNECE, FMVSS, BIS) and consumer rating protocols (e.g., Euro NCAP, GNCAP, IIHS).
- Demonstrated experience in translating safety requirements into technical specifications and managing their implementation.
- Familiarity with safety analysis methodologies such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), FTA (Fault Tree Analysis), and HARA (Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment).
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience with vehicle crash testing, simulation, and validation processes.
- Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262).
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
- Leadership experience or experience mentoring junior engineers.
- Exposure to electric vehicle (EV) safety considerations.
