Position: NAS Engineer – Flash Product Engineering (BB510FT RM 3958)

Job responsibilities

  • Primary engineering authority to enable Client consumer SATA SSDs & PCIe NVMe SSDs into consumer grade NAS market
  • Responsible for setting up 2-Bay, 4-Bay, 6-Bay SMB/SOHO NAS systems from vendors like QNAP, TerraMaster, UGREEN and ASUStore in a secured lab in Bangalore, India
  • Set up the NAS array in the configurations below
    o Volume mapped to Windows, Linux and Mac hosts across the network
    o Volume configured as Hybrid (HDD + SATA SSD or HDD + NVMe SSD) and All flash SSD arrays
    o Set up the array in caching and tiering mode
  • Generate reports by running various commercial and consumer workloads/benchmarking
    o Commercial workloads: Virtualization, Database storage (OLTP), concurrent access, collaborative editing
    o Consumer workloads: Content creation, surveillance, back-up and streaming
    o Suggest performance optimization to analyze and tune storage performance to meet application requirements
  • Characterization of SSD power, performance, thermal and endurance in consumer NAS systems
  • Replicate field issues, issues reported by NAS vendor during AVL
  • Diagnose and resolve storage and network issues
  • Lead a small (2 to 3) team of execution engineers to create reports on a regular cadence
  • Work with marketing team to generate solution briefs, joint solutions brief, support collateral, and technical support
  • Maintain HW compatibility list across multiple hosts
  • Maintain detailed documentation for storage configurations, procedures and policies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s engineering degree with 5 to 10 years of experience in Storage Domain
  • Good to have a few years of software and/or firmware development and/or validation experience
  • Must be familiar with NVMe, and SATA protocols basics and good to have PCIe basics
  • Must be familiar with storage drives and form factors (M.2, 2.5”, HDD, SSD etc..)
  • Familiar with Windows and Linux storage stacks
  • Familiar with Windows, Linux storage and Mac performance and power benchmarking tools
  • Familiar with file sharing protocols like NFS, SMB/CIFS
  • Understanding of Network, Ethernet, VLAN and switching to set up the network storage
  • Able to articulate complex engineering problems to worldwide teams
  • Good Interpersonal skills and communication skills
