Position: Validation Engineer (TT710SI RM 4360)

Job Description:
The Validation engineer is responsible for the development and test execution of product environmental and EMC test plans for all assigned projects. Additional responsibilities may include design and development of test systems used to execute the environmental and EMC tests

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyse product requirements to design and develop testing artifacts and provide input to product development teams on missing/deficient requirements.
  • Develop DV /PV plan and in compliance with Magna processes and customer test standards.
  • Manage all testing and interfaces with external laboratories to ensure all tests and their results are executed & reported properly.
  • Enter defects into the defect tracking tool and support defect analysis and debug activities with cross functional team.
  • Perform data analysis on test results and present to the development teams/ customer as required/
  • Develop project test schedule, and timing plans and use to track all testing deliverables.
  • Develop and release all relevant validation engineering deliverables in compliance with Global Product Engineering Process (GPEP) and customer expectations
  • Support new project quotation development activities as required.
  • Design, develop, and deploy validation testers, load boxes etc. to perform environmental and/or EMC testing for various products.
  • Support the design and development of test infrastructure hardware and software including load boards, load mounting, fixtures, plumbing, manual/electronic flow control, temperature, flow rate, viscosity, etc. Sensors and actuators in partnership with electrical, mechanical software and EMC engineering teams.
  • Interface with cross functional engineering & manufacturing teams to ensure test requirements are specified and implemented correctly.
  • Participate in process action teams as part of the global product engineering development process improvement activity.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts, researches, recommends and initiates implementation of enhancements to products, processes and programs.
  • Generate and maintain all necessary validation engineering documentation and data to ensure traceability and compliance to company procedures (e.g. Process-work instructions) and applicable standards (e.g ISO/TS 16949, ISO/IEC TR 15504)
  • Perform complex work assignments requiring independent problem solving and decision making, requiring strong technical competency
  • Work assignments primarily involve senior/advanced level work and may mentor other engineers
  • Lead the planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting of all validation related activities for various projects.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. Ensures that facilities are in full compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Maintains regular attendance.
  • Follows safe work procedures; Uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE); Uses workplace tools and equipment as instructed; Reports workplace hazards, injuries and illness as soon as possible following event.
  • Complies with the requirements of Quality Operating System (QOS)

Level 1

  • Perform detailed work assignments provided by the mentor or team member, by applying established and well defined validation engineering techniques.
  • Work assignments primarily involve entry level or intermediate work.
    Level II
  • Perform work assignments as a highly competent validation engineer, requiring independent design, implementation and testing of the hardware
  • Work assignments primarily involve intermediate through advanced level work, moving toward complete technical competency and mastery of the field Senior
  • Perform complex work assignments requiring independent problem solving and decision making, requiring strong technical competency
  • Work assignments primarily involve senior/advanced level work and may mentor other validation engineers.
  • Lead the planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting of all validation related activities for various projects Specialist
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts. Researches, recommends, and implements new and/or existing products, processes, materials and equipment. Engages in comparative and competitive analysis to ensure utilization of most appropriate and beneficial techniques in a situation respectively
  • Ensure competitive technical proposal, engineering estimate and technical review material are provided per pursuit targets and agreed upon timing in support of the sales target
  • Benchmark competitor’s solutions and determine best ways to improve or surpass the competition
  • Support customer meetings as the technical subject matter expert for a specific product or discipline

Role specific:

  • Validation Engineer (Mechanical) – Test case development for Mechanical and vibration/shock compatibility
  • Validation Engineer (Thermal/Environmental) – Test case development for thermal/ environmental compatibility.
  • Validation Engineer (EMC) – Test plan and specification development for all EMC ED, DV, and PV testing – EMC ED, DV, and PV test execution/support
