Position: BIW (TT17ST RM 3906)

Role Overview
We are seeking a BIW Engineer / Analyst to join our team in Chennai. This role is crucial for the design, development, and optimization of vehicle Body-in-White structures, ensuring structural integrity, safety, light weighting, and manufacturing feasibility. You will contribute to creating robust and efficient vehicle architectures.

Key Responsibilities

• BIW Design & Development: Contribute to the conceptualization, design, and detailed development of BIW components and assemblies.
• Structural Analysis: Conduct or support CAE analysis (FEA) for stiffness, strength, durability, and crashworthiness of BIW structures.
• Manufacturing Feasibility: Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing processes such as stamping, welding, and assembly, considering cost and quality.
• Material Selection: Evaluate and specify appropriate materials (e.g., steel, aluminium, composites) for BIW components based on performance and cost targets.
• Weight & Cost Optimization: Identify and implement strategies for BIW light weighting and cost reduction without compromising performance.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, styling, CAE, manufacturing, and testing teams.
• Problem Solving: Address design and manufacturing challenges related to BIW.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• 3 to 8 years of experience in BIW design, development, or analysis within the automotive industry.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, NX, Creo) and familiarity with CAE tools (FEA).
• Strong understanding of automotive body structure principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of GD&T, PDM/PLM systems, and engineering change management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience with advanced high-strength steels or aluminium structures.
• Familiarity with automotive regulations and safety standards.
• Knowledge of jig and fixture design for BIW assembly.
