Position: CAE Engineer / Analyst (TT17ST RM 3903)

Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic CAE Engineer / Analyst to join our dynamic team in Chennai. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing advanced simulations and analyses to support the design, development, and optimization of various components and systems. This role is crucial in ensuring product performance, durability, safety, and efficiency through the application of Computer-Aided Engineering tools and methodologies. You will work closely with design, testing, and manufacturing teams to bring innovative solutions to life.

Key Responsibilities
As a CAE Engineer / Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

  • FEA/CFD/MBD Simulations: Conduct various CAE simulations, including but not limited to Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural integrity, durability, NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness), crashworthiness, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for thermal and fluid flow analysis, or Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD) for system-level motion analysis.
  • Pre-processing: Develop and refine high-quality FE/CFD models from CAD data, including meshing, material property assignment, boundary condition application, and load case setup using industry-standard pre-processing tools.
  • Post-processing & Interpretation: Analyze simulation results, interpret complex data, and generate clear, concise reports summarizing findings, conclusions, and recommendations for design improvements.
  • Design Optimization: Collaborate with design engineers to propose design modifications and conduct optimization studies to enhance product performance, reduce weight, and improve cost-effectiveness.
Validation & Correlation: Work with testing teams to correlate simulation results with physical test data, continuously improving the accuracy and reliability of CAE models.
  • Problem Solving: Investigate and resolve engineering problems and design challenges using advanced CAE techniques.
  • Methodology Development: Contribute to the development and standardization of CAE methodologies, best practices, and automation scripts to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and present technical reports, analyses, and recommendations to project teams and management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1 to 7 years of experience in performing CAE simulations (FEA, CFD, MBD) within the automotive, aerospace, heavy equipment, or related industries.
  • Proficiency in at least one major CAE pre-processor (e.g., Ansa, HyperMesh, SimLab, ICEM CFD).
  • Experience with at least one major CAE solver (e.g., Abaqus, Nastran, LS-Dyna, OptiStruct, ANSYS, Star-CCM+, FLUENT, ADAMS).
  • Strong fundamental understanding of engineering principles, including solid mechanics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and material science.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Specialized experience in a specific CAE domain (e.g., crash & safety, NVH, durability & fatigue, thermal management, aerodynamics).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Tcl/Tk) for automation of CAE processes.
  • Experience with optimization software (e.g., Isight, HyperWorks suite optimization tools).
  • Knowledge of CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, NX) is a plus.
  • Experience with PDM/PLM systems.
  • Exposure to electric vehicle (EV) component analysis.
