Job Description
BIW Design Engineer (Automotive)
We are seeking a skilled BIW Design Engineer with strong expertise in Siemens NX to support Body-in-White development activities for passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, or electric vehicles.
The candidate will be responsible for component design, feasibility studies, package integration, and release activities while ensuring compliance with OEM design standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop BIW components and assemblies using Siemens NX.
- Create and modify 3D models, 2D drawings, and GD&T according to customer requirements.
- Perform feasibility studies, tolerance stack-up, and manufacturing assessments.
- Develop sheet metal parts, reinforcements, brackets, closures, and structural components.
- Coordinate with CAE, Manufacturing, Tooling, and Product Engineering teams.
- Ensure adherence to OEM design standards and vehicle packaging requirements.
- Support prototype builds, design validation, and engineering change management.
- Participate in DFMEA, DVP&R, and design reviews.
- Release engineering documentation through PLM systems such as Teamcenter.
Required Skills & Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in Siemens NX CAD.
- Experience in BIW design and automotive sheet metal development.
- Knowledge of spot welding, hemming, joining technologies, and manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and drafting standards.
- Experience with Teamcenter or other PLM systems.
- Knowledge of APQP, DFMEA, and engineering change processes.
- Domain Knowledge
- Underbody & Upper body & Closures & Roof systems & Battery enclosure structures (EV preferred)
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to global OEM programs.
- Experience in EV architecture development.
- Good communication and customer interaction skills
