Scope of Role:
Senior Design Engineer is responsible for Leading Interior trims product development and details product design according to standards and guidelines. is responsible for deliverables for all aspects of defined component(s) / system(s). Engineering CAD concepts/ solutions for ongoing and new projects for Interior Trim parts
Area of Responsibility:
This position is responsible for new design and development of interior trims like
- Pillar Trims: A Pillar, B Pillar Upper & Lower, C Pillar Upper & Lower, Scuff plate, etc.
- Headliner: Fixed roof, Panoroof, Opening Panoroof, etc.
- Carpet & Load Space Trim: Front/Rear Carpet, Dash NVH, Bulkhead Insulation, Load Space Side, Parcel Shelf, Load Floor, Storage Block, etc.
- Responsible for Creating Master sections, conducting benchmarking of competitor vehicles.
- Assess style surface, Provide engineering feasible solution & feedback to studio team
- Ensure OEM CAD Standard methodologies are followed while creating CAD geometries.
- Ensure system, sub-system and components meet required interfaces, DVA, OQ-PQ targets & Regulatory targets.
- Should be able to lead the design reviews with cross functional teams & lead engineers.
- DMU check during digital phase by checking kinematic Interference/ Contact/ Clearance
- Create Concept proposals & detail studies for issues.
- Good knowledge on manufacturing process used in all Cabin trim parts ((Pillar Trims, Headliner, Load space trim & Floor Carpet, Insulations)
- Good level of understanding on part level location & fixation methods.
- Adequate knowledge of plastic moulding and design process, DFMEA, DVP, DFA/DFM & GD&T.
- Ensuring that the all-project deliverables is met at given time with Dashboard document.
- Identifying all risks of the programme and make appropriate capitalization documents (Lessons learned, Technical Reports) to feed/improve Design and Development standards and guidelines.
Knowledge / Experience Essential:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of automotive product engineering experience required specifically in automotive Interior trim system and component design
- Extensive experience in using CATIA V5 / V6, PLM (TCE)
- Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
- Good Knowledge of and/or training in:
o Good all-round design skills which must include experience of working on at least one of Interior Trim commodity.
o Good knowledge on manufacturing process used in all Cabin trim parts ((Pillar Trims, Headliner, Load space trim & Floor Carpet, Insulations).
o Demonstrates selection of appropriate design solutions to meet the needs of the product
o Excellent communications skills, demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels,
o Knowledge about material Data system. (IMDS)
o Excellent communications skills
o Able to interpret results / make recommendations for the project
o Capable of using Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word - Working knowledge of project delivery processes.
- Working experience with global OEM cross functional teams will be an added advantage.
