Position: Seating frame design (TT38SI RM 3991)

Interview process- F2f- CAD test + 1 Technical round

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Automotive Seating Frame Design Engineer with strong expertise in CATIA to join our engineering and product development team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and validating seating frame structures that meet automotive OEM standards for safety, durability, ergonomics, manufacturability, and cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D models and 2D drawings of seating frames and structural components using CATIA V5/V6.
  • Design metal structures, including tubular, stamped, and welded assemblies for seat frames.
  • Conduct packaging studies, ensuring compliance with occupant space, ergonomic guidelines, and vehicle architecture.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (CAE, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing) to refine and optimize seat frame designs.
  • Generate and maintain engineering documentation, BOM, and design reports.
  • Incorporate DFMEA, DFM/DFA** principles into the design.
  • Work on tolerance stack-up analysis and GD&T application for critical interfaces.
  • Support prototype builds and coordinate with suppliers for manufacturability.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable safety standards, regulatory requirements, and OEM specifications.
  • Perform engineering changes and release designs through PLM systems (Enovia/Teamcenter or similar).

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering
  • 3–8 years of hands-on experience in Automotive Seating or Interior/Structural Components.
  • Strong command of CATIA V5/V6 (Part Design, Assembly Design, Drafting, Sheet Metal, Surfacing).
  • Good understanding of:
    o Metal/static structural design (welded assemblies, stamping, tubing).
    o GD&T, tolerances, and engineering drawing standards.
    o Manufacturing processes: stamping, hydroforming, welding, laser cutting, etc.
  • Experience with OEM product development processes (gate reviews, change management).
  • Good communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred (Nice to Have)

  • Experience working with major OEM seating programs (e.g., JCI/Adient, Lear, Magna).
  • Knowledge of simulation/CAE requirements for seating structures.
  • Familiarity with occupant safety standards (FMVSS, ECE, etc.).
  • Exposure to PLM systems (Teamcenter, Enovia).
