Role Overview
This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the ride, handling, steering feel, and refinement DNA of VinFast vehicles. As a senior chassis expert, the successful candidate will directly influence customer perception, dynamic character, and overall vehicle quality, playing a critical role in defining the driving experience of current and future platforms.
Experience
- Expert in chassis systems, including:
o Steering systems (EPS, racks, columns)
o Brake systems (hydraulic, brake-by-wire, pedal feel)
o Suspension systems (front & rear architectures)
o Bushes, mounts, and isolation systems
o Subframes and structural chassis components
o Powertrain mounting systems and their interaction with the chassis - Deep understanding of ride, handling, and steering performance, including subjective and objective assessment methods.
- Extensive experience diagnosing and resolving NVH issues originating from suspension, steering, subframes, bushes, and powertrain mounts.
- Proven capability to troubleshoot complex vehicle-level issues such as:
o Torque steer
o Steering kickback
o Brake judder and vibration
o Ride harshness and impact harshness
o Structure-borne noise transmitted through chassis systems - Strong understanding of how suspension and steering design choices influence NVH, ride comfort, handling balance, and customer perception.
- Experience working across design, tuning, CAE, and test to identify root causes and implement robust countermeasures.
- Familiarity with electric vehicle (EV) chassis challenges, including high torque delivery, mass distribution, regenerative braking effects, and powertrain mount interaction.
- Ability to define, review, and enforce chassis design rules, tuning philosophies, and technical standards across multiple vehicle programs.
- Strong background in structured problem solving and cross-attribute issue resolution.
- Proven experience capturing lessons learned and embedding them into standards, guidelines, and future vehicle architectures.
- Act as the technical authority for chassis systems across VinFast vehicle programs within the VQA division
- Lead and support resolution of all major chassis-related issues, including ride, handling, steering feel, braking behavior, and NVH.
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues arising from suspension and steering design, tuning, or system interaction.
- Provide expert guidance on steering and suspension tuning strategies, ensuring balanced delivery of ride comfort, handling precision, and refinement.
- Support investigation and mitigation of EV-specific phenomena such as torque steer, steering kickback, and driveline-to-chassis interactions.
- Work closely with NVH, Vehicle Dynamics, Powertrain, BIW, and Safety teams to deliver integrated chassis solutions.
- Review and challenge chassis concepts, designs, and validation results to ensure robustness and long-term quality.
- Define, review, and continuously improve chassis technical standards, design rules, and development processes.
- Lead technical reviews, investigations, and corrective action planning for complex chassis topics.
- Capture and institutionalise learning from vehicle programs to strengthen future platform strategies.
- Provide clear, authoritative technical input to senior leadership on chassis risks, trade-offs, and technical direction.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 15–20+ years of experience in chassis system development within industry-leading OEMs or Tier-1 engineering organisations.
- Exceptional systems-level understanding of how chassis subsystems interact with the full vehicle.
- Ability to influence and lead without direct line management, operating effectively as a senior technical authority
- Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex chassis behavior into clear technical actions.
- Structured, analytical, and pragmatic approach to problem solving.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment with significant technical accountability
