Position: Technical Expert – BIW & Body Structure (TT200ST RM 4119)
Role Overview
This position offers a rare opportunity to shape the structural DNA of VinFast vehicles at a senior technical level. The role sits at the intersection of safety, NVH, quality, and customer perception, with direct influence on long-term body architecture strategy, standards, and engineering excellence across the organization.
Experience:
- Expert in Body-in-White (BIW) engineering, including complete body structures, doors, closures, and body systems.
- Extensive experience in designing and optimising body structures for:
o Passive safety and crashworthiness performance
o NVH performance and structural stiffness
o Air leakage, water management, and sealing robustness - Strong understanding of load paths, joint design, material selection, and structural concepts across BIW and closures
- Proven capability to integrate passive safety requirements (global regulations and consumer test expectations) into BIW and closure design.
- Deep experience working with NVH teams to manage structure-borne noise, body stiffness targets, sealing strategy, and wind noise contributors.
- Demonstrated ability to define, review, and enforce BIW and closure design rules and best practices across vehicle programs.
- Strong track record of driving cross-functional problem resolution involving CAE, testing, manufacturing, sealing systems, and suppliers.
- Experience capturing, formalising, and deploying lessons learned into standards, guidelines, and future vehicle architectures.
- Comfortable operating as a senior technical authority across global engineering organisations.
- Act as the technical authority for BIW, body structure, doors, and closures across VinFast vehicle programs for the vehicle quality division.
- Lead the definition, review, and continuous improvement of BIW and closure design rules, standards, and technical guidelines.
- Drive resolution of all major BIW-, door-, and closure-related issues, including structural performance, NVH, air leakage, and quality concerns.
- Support and guide teams in achieving passive safety targets, ensuring structural concepts align with global safety expectations.
- Work closely with NVH, Safety, Durability, Manufacturing, and Sealing teams to deliver robust and balanced body solutions.
- Review and challenge designs at concept, detailed design, and validation stages to ensure technical excellence and robustness.
- Lead technical reviews, root-cause investigations, and corrective action definition for complex body-related issues.
- Capture key learnings from projects and ensure they are embedded into future platform strategies, standards, and processes.
- Provide expert input to senior leadership on body structure strategy, risks, and technical direction
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 20+ years of experience in body structure development within industry-leading OEMs or Tier-1–led vehicle programs.
- Exceptional technical judgement with a systems-level understanding of complete vehicle body performance.
- Strong leadership and influencing skills, able to drive decisions across multiple stakeholders without direct line management.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex structural topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Structured, analytical approach to problem solving, with a strong bias toward root cause and prevention.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment with significant technical accountability
