- Extensive experience in identifying, analysing, and resolving NVH issues related to e-motors, including electromagnetic excitation, torque ripple, gear whine, and structure-borne noise paths.
- In-depth expertise in powertrain thermal management, including:
o Motor, inverter, and power electronics cooling
o Battery thermal interaction with powertrain systems
o Coolant circuit design, control strategies, and heat rejection optimisation - Strong practical experience with coolant systems, including pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and integrated thermal architectures.
- Proven experience working with and optimizing HVAC compressor systems (electric compressors), including their interaction with powertrain thermal loads, efficiency, NVH, and customer comfort.
- Demonstrated capability to support and guide efficiency optimization activities, including loss reduction, thermal efficiency trade-offs, calibration strategies, and system-level optimization.
- Experience working closely with NVH, Thermal, Efficiency, Vehicle Dynamics, Electrical, and HVAC teams to deliver balanced and robust powertrain solutions.
- Solid understanding of how powertrain behaviour influences driveability, refinement, customer perception, and overall driving experience.
- Ability to define, review, and enforce powertrain design rules, best practices, and technical standards across multiple vehicle programs.
- Strong background in root-cause analysis and structured problem solving for complex, cross-attribute powertrain issues.
- Proven experience capturing lessons learned and translating them into standards, guidelines, and future platform strategies.
- Act as the technical authority for powertrain systems (BEV and REEV) across VinFast vehicle programs within the vehicle quality division.
- Lead and support resolution of all major powertrain-related issues, particularly those related to NVH, thermal performance, efficiency, and system integration.
- Provide expert guidance on e-motor and ICE NVH mitigation strategies, including source identification, path control, and system-level countermeasures.
- Lead and support definition and optimization of powertrain thermal management strategies, ensuring robustness, efficiency, and performance across all operating conditions and climates.
- Provide technical leadership on coolant system architecture and HVAC compressor integration, ensuring optimal balance between efficiency, NVH, thermal robustness, and customer comfort.
- Contribute to vehicle efficiency and range optimization, working closely with efficiency, calibration, aerodynamics, and thermal teams.
- Review and challenge powertrain concepts, detailed designs, and validation results to ensure long-term robustness and quality.
- Define, review, and continuously improve powertrain technical standards, design rules, and development processes.
- Lead technical reviews, investigations, and corrective action planning for complex powertrain topics.
- Capture and institutionalize learning from vehicle programs to strengthen future platform architectures and development approaches.
- Provide clear, authoritative technical input to senior leadership on powertrain risks, trade-offs, and strategic direction.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 15–20+ years of experience in chassis system development within industry-leading OEMs or Tier-1 engineering organisations.
- Exceptional depth of technical knowledge combined with strong systems-level thinking.
- Ability to influence and lead without direct line management, operating effectively as a senior technical authority.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex powertrain and thermal topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
